Hi, itβs Ange!
Itβs been a while since my last article... Lot of things from my side, including the new project that Iβll share to you right now π!
In summer 2022, Alexandre Durand-Chabert, founder of the podcast network (previously a media company) Airparty, and Julie Leroy, co-founder of the French student VC fund G. Ventures, came to me with the idea of building a Creator Economy-focused tech community!
The idea immediately convinced me! After several brainstorming sessions, we decided to start by putting the spotlight on these some creator economy founders on the mic. So, weβve welcomed 2 founders on our Community Shows: Anthony Amar of Studiomatic, or Etienne Gatti of Edgar (pivoted to INRO), that you could view here:
Few months later, Alexandre decided to pivot Airparty from a media company to a podcast network, by syndicating tech content creators through several podcast channels. like Tech Sources, the podcast to discover the sources used by tech industry players, and Tech Party, the podcast about augmented communities.
And then was born Planet Creators!
#PlanetCreators is your new favorite audio/video format that talks about #CreatorEconomy and welcomes entrepreneurs, investors and industry executives to share with you the keys to the ecosystem!
I often co-host the episode with 1, 2 or 3 other buddies to give you the keys to the creator industry, discover the champions of a market worth over $100 billion π€ and use the potential of the Creator Economy to develop your business π!
So, I let you discover the first four episodes of Planet featuring an investor, two founders and an industry executive.
Enjoy π€©!

EP01: Hugo AMSELLEM - From the startup world to the Creator Economy
#Influencer vs #Creator - there's a difference π€·ββοΈ? - And then, what is a "creator" π€?
Alexandre, Julie and I asked questions to Hugo Amsellem, Creator Economy expert and author of Arm the Creators on Planet Creators podcast.
Hugo Amsellem is the former VP of the Creator Fund and M&A advisor at Jellysmack, and invested in several Creator Economy scale-ups like Creative Juice and Beehiiv - to become one of the industry's most influential figures!
Now, he's turning his attention to the Loneliness Economy, an ecosystem that is in some ways connected to the Creator Economy!
So, I took the incredible opportunity to chat with him for an hour, along with my comrades Alexandre Durand-Chabert from the podcast network Airparty, and Julie Leroy from student VC fund G. Ventures, to gain an in-depth understanding of the Creators Economy and the Loneliness Economy!
We talked about:
β the intersection between content creation and loneliness
β its transition from the Creators Economy to the Loneliness Economy
β why is it so complicated to set up a deal with a creator?
β the startup Hugo would have loved to build
β GeoGuessr
Thank you very much Hugo for this fascinating and instructive discussion ππ !
EP02: Ariel RENOUS - Augment - From Passion Economy to Augment.org, the "Alternative MBA" for executives
He convinced YouTube & Shazam founders to come to Paris to share their experience on video π€―. Then he raised $6M from VCs & creators to scale and create βThe alternative MBAβ πΈ. How?
Ariel Renous, co-founder and CEO of one of the best promising start-up in the French creator economy ecosystem: Augment.org
After a stint in venture capital, he then joined the Creator Economy powerhouse Jellysmack to help them convert celebrities into content creators like Francis Ngannou π₯!
Ariel then saw the opportunity to turn incredible tech founders & executives into creators to build "The Alternative MBA".
Augment now has 500+ learners from all over the world, held its first community event in London in late 2023, and is planning the next one in New York.
In the second episode, Alexandre and I talked to Ariel about this innovative model that crosses video and education, touching on:
β how to convert celebrities & tech founders into content creators?
β how the battle for attention pushes to a crossroad: premium quality VS full authenticity
β the persona of the edutainment platforms
β how to convince the likes of Steve Chen to come and record in Paris
β why Augment doesn't see itself as competing with platforms like Udemy, but rather with Netflix or YouTube
Thanks a lot Ariel for this insightful discussion in the world of Edutainment ππ!

EP03: Samuel MORIN - Brut - "Creator economy" from Brut
A year after joining Brut. as Data Analyst, he then built and took the lead of the Creator Program in Europe, Asia and the US π΅! Whoβs this man?
This is Samuel Morin, Head of Publishers Solutions at Brut., a millennial & GenZ-focused digital media scale-up that have raised $160M+
Now, Samuel helps content creators, industry experts and public personalities to develop their digital visibility through social media!
When Samuel joined Brut in 2020, it was perfect timing:
β These are big rounds in the Creator Economy landscape
β Tech media began to grow their interest about the Creator Economy (The Information, Business Insider ...)
β Brut owned a efficient technical stack for super creators
So, Brut tested the opportunity to launch an in-house Creator Program, and Samuel took the lead of the POC.
At the peak of the Creator Program, there are the results:
β 28 persons in the Creators Data Team
β On 3 continents (Europe, Asia, North America)
β With 50 creators in the portfolio
But the Creator Program pivoted, and now Samuel pushes the βcreatorizationβ of industry experts & public personalities!
That's what I wanted to understand when I discussed with him on Planet Creators:
And weβve talked about:
β the business model of the Brut Creator Program
β the syndication of content creation
β why break into the Indian market is a big, but tough opportunity
β how the data was key in the Creator Program performance
β how the creator program pivoted to a better sustainable model
β and many more topics
Thanks a lot for this insightful discussion on the creator-powered media & ads business ππ!
EP04: Sixte DE VAUPLANE - Animaj - The Frenchie βYouTube-for-kidsβ company
After building & selling a FoodTech scale-up π±, he saw an opportunity in the YouTube-for-kids videos πΊ and raised $100M+ to build a powerhouse that will compete with The Walt Disney Company π€―!
Why after discussing with Sixte, this vision seems pretty achievable? Storytime π
When Sixte de Vauplane launched Animaj in 2022, there is such good timing thanks to several reasons, among them:
β Digital-native people have now kids and used to share them YouTube videos instead of TV cartoons
β AI-generative content tools just became mainstream, thanks to OpenAI
β A diversity of video formats, thanks to TikTok & βReelsβ formats
He saw an opportunity to empower digital native and βTV-nativeβ IPs (or we could say franchises), and make them international kid content powerhouses!
18 months later, Animaj has:
β Bought its first IP: Kidibli, a franchise generating 6B+ views each year, with 38-40M subscribers across 7 countries
β Owns 3 IPs in the portfolio and generate 15B+ views per year, with a target of 8-12 portfolio IPs
β Reached the Top 1 Europe & Top 5 World in Kid category on YouTube
So, I picked the brain of Sixte de Vauplane during one hour to discuss about the opportunity of YouTube, the IP distribution through multi-format content!
And weβve talked about:
β Why Sixte launch his new venture in the kid video content industry
β How Animaj monetize their IPs?
β The dynamics of the kid video content market
β The amplified power law of the kid video content market
β How the AI helps increase x7 Animajβs daily content production rate
β Why is the kid content CPM structurally lower than other video types
β and more topics β¦
Thanks a lot Sixte for this insightful discussion in the world of #YouTube-for-Kids πΎ
